DEVELOPMENT IDEAS

Got an idea for the future of the site. Is there a function you'd just love to see? Let us know.

What's coming?

Well, without showing our cards too much we're looking to give the "to read" functionality a face lift. Imagine have a "to read" list that you could sort by popularity, obscurity or page length. Now imagine that it was tied into the inventory of your favorite bricks and mortar bookstore. This is coming soon!

adding books

Very cool idea! I know lots of people who would like this site.

When you're at a fellow reader's shelf, and you see a book you'd like to add to your shelf - one that you've already read - how do you do that? For example, I've read "Lamb: The gospel according to Biff, Christ's childhood friend." Somehow, I cannot find it to add to my shelf, but someone else has it on their shelf. I was able to put it in my "to read" list, but I'd like to move it from "to read" to "read" (past tense).

So, 2 questions - how do you add books you've read from someone else's shelf, and how do you move books from "to read" to your shelf? Thanks!

Also, can you add friends who aren't already listed as like-minded? For example, I'd like to see what my friends are reading without having to remember their logons.

ANSWERS

Bob here:
Thanks for the feedback, great questions.

(1) Right now when you are looking at someone else's shelf and you see a book that you've read, here's what you can do to add it to your 'rated books'...click the ADD TO MY 'TO READ' LIST button, then when you get back to your own shelf look at your UNREAD BOOKS in LIST VIEW. There is a column labeled "Finished?" on the far right, click RATE THIS BOOK and that'll sent it to your rated books. Other than that we don't yet have a single step process.

One quick note about the book you couldn't find: The best way to guarantee that you'll find any title is to enter it at fys exactly as it appears at Amazon.com. So that book you mentioned is titled exactly "Lamb: The Gospel According to Biff, Christ's Childhood Pal." If you search this, you'll find your book. We are working on refining our search so that it's more flexible. All apologies.

(2) We are currently working on a 'buddy list'. Soon you'll be able to view either LIKE MINDS or MY FRIENDS when you're at your personal case. This is going to be sweet cause you'll be able to add a friend once and they'll stay there till you delete em. Plus it'll allow you to compare your compatibility score with multiple friends at a glance. This function is a bit tricky but we hope to have something in the next month.

And those friends of yours that would like the site...tell em about it. The more the merrier.
Thanks again,
Bob
