This is where you can find other readers in the system with similar tastes. The right column is a list of user names and the left is your LCS (Literary Compatibility Score) with those users. Keep in mind these calculations are based solely on readership, not ownership and take into consideration the similarity and the intensity of your opinions, as well as your library size.
For the next few weeks, as we continue to tweak the formula, you may see some strange results, but I assure you that we are working behind the scenes to devise a compatibility score unlike anything out there which will allow you to find and connect with genuine like minds. Results will progressively improve with time as well as with every new book you read.
If you click on any user's name in the roster you'll be taken to their shelf to browse. Feel free to arrange their books the way you'd like to browse them. 'Order Read' will show you what they've most recently read or 'My Rating' will bring their favorites to the top. As of now, you cannot view other users' shelves in the 'List View,' but soon you'll be able to not only view them in this format, but to leave recommendations right there on their shelves.
At the bottom is a field labeled "Visit Friend's Shelf." If you know your friend's user name you can type it in here to visit their shelf. I encourage users in the short term to post their user name along with their real name in the forum section titled "finding friends."
One word of warning: it takes a few hours for the program that constantly calculates these scores to run one cycle. So you may notice that when you add and remove books that your scores do not immediately change. Give it some time. It will eventually update. For these complex calculations our focus is on quality not speed.
